5 Reasons to Love Beeswax

1) Beeswax is multipurpose!

It is secreted by honey bees in order to help build their comb and have a place to store all the honey they collect. Beeswax has been around for centuries providing a multitude of uses for skin care, candle light, time-keeping, lubricant, polish, and more.

2) Beeswax is a humectant that is antibacterial and antimicrobial

Beeswax is a wonderful moisture barrier for skin care. It helps draw water to the skin as well as prevents water loss making it an ideal ingredient for any moisturizer. We make all of our balms and salves with added beeswax to thicken our herb infused oil blends while adding crucial skin loving benefits. Not only is it an all natural ingredient that is 100% biodegradable, but knowing it is produced directly from bees is the most natural source

3) Beeswax is a clean burning candle wax

Because of its high melting point of 147 F, beeswax tends to have a longer burn time due to the slow pace of the burn. This longer burn results in a cleaner flame, that may help to purify the air, with a brighter warmer glow that produces virtually no soot in comparison to other waxes such as paraffin.

4) Promotes a cozy ambience

The Danish would refer to setting a cozy home atmosphere as Hygge. Beeswax candles give off a subtle honey aroma that is quite pleasant and all natural light and heat source to create a cozy atmosphere.

hyg·ge

noun

a quality of coziness and comfortable convitality that engenders a feeling of contentment or well-being (regarded as a defining characteristic of Danish culture).

"why not follow the Danish example and bring more hygge into your daily life with Studio Mestiza’s beeswax candles?"

5) Preserve centuries-old traditions

Before electricity, households relied on fires and candlelight to extend their days, especially during the cold winter months. Beeswax candles have long been favored for sacred timekeeping allowing the burn to measure the hours passed until the glow extinguishes.

We will be offering tea light candles and tapered candlesticks made out of pure beeswax sourced locally from beekeepers all over the Bay Area starting on Valentine’s Day. Head to the shop on 2.14.24 to snag a few and be ready for your next candle-lit occasion!
