Spring 2024 Soap Bars

The Inspiration

This season’s Busy Bee Box has two exciting soap bars. Our cold process soap is made in small batches with intention and inspiration from the ever changing seasons. This Spring season, we take inspiration from 100 year-old Magnolia trees, dainty paper-like cherry blossom flowers, and golden blooms of Calendulas representing the warmer days ahead.

Pink Magnolia & Cherry Blossom

As we transition into Spring, we took inspiration from pink winter flora which is elegant and inviting. These two flowers bloom from trees and only last a very fleeting moment in time, so cherish them while you still can and inhale deeply for their intoxicating aroma. This soap bar is naturally scented with Geranium essential oil from Egypt to replicate the floral notes of white and pink petals.

Sunny Calendula

Calendula is a skin and gut-healing flower that is beneficial for topical wounds, tummy aches, and pollinator gardens. This vibrant flower is incredibly medicinal yet gentle. It’s no wonder you can find Calendula in most baby products. Scrub away with this soap bar as the cheery orange flowers provide a mild exfoliant to the skin while our signature oil blends create a gentle and nourishing bar.

A Gift From the Garden

Included with this season’s Busy Bee Box is a tin with Calendula and Nasturtium seeds saved from our founder’s own garden. Did you know Nasturtium leaves and bright flowers are edible? They taste peppery and are perfect for salads.

Saving seeds is a practice many gardeners do to not only save money, but to be part of the plant cycle year after year. By saving seeds, you participate in the conservation of plants world wide! Such a small act with a big impact.

In a perfect world, a seed library would be on the corner of every street in the neighborhood for neighbors to share seeds with each other much like they do books.

A Note from our Founder

Spring Equinox 2024 Tue, Mar 19, 2024, 8:06 PM

The morning of Spring Equinox, I invite you to open your tin of Calendula and Nasturtium seeds, find a bare patch of soil and sprinkle them throughout. For even measurements, try to space each seed about 12 inches apart from each other. If you like a more loose method, throw-and-grow! Water them and keep them moist until seedlings have emerged. Plant them in your garden to welcome bees and butterflies, and soon you will have your own flowers to brew Calendula tea with and Nasturtiums to add to your next meal!

Join me in packaging orders for my current members and see what goes into each Busy Bee Box. Anyone can buy soap bars at a big box store, but Studio Mestiza is all about the little details, intentionality, and a celebration of handmade throughout the seaons.
