Studio Mestiza is a multidisciplinary studio showcasing different forms of art from Herbalism to Artisanal Soaps and Ceramics to Photography.

We are harnessing the power of plants through art, self-care rituals, little luxuries, and intentional living.

We sell a handmade collection of herbal soaps + salves, beeswax candles, and functional ceramics (coming soon).

Whether you are bathing with one of our soap bars or lighting a beeswax candle on a moody day, we want you to feel the intention behind every handmade item to embrace a lifestyle of slow-living.

When we take the time to welcome nature into our daily routine and appreciate the little luxuries in life, we partake in a practice filled with love for our bodies and the earth.

Our online shop offers small-batch handmade items that celebrate art, nature, and time-honored craft. Our passion for sustainability and relationship with the earth reflects in the nature-based ingredients and materials we work with such as beeswax, plant oils, butters, essential oils, and clays.

Sustainability

We believe that plastics should never fall on the fault of the consumer. That’s why we are obsessed with cardboard and kraft paper due to the fact that they can be fully recycled and composted back in the garden!

Small Batch

In a world of mass production and unethical work environments, knowing the hands that make the products you decide to bring in to your home is important to us. Our founder handmakes all featured items in small quantities with love and care.

Slow Living

We strive for our products to transport you to a gentle morning, a calming shower ritual, journaling by golden candlelight, caring for your loved ones, and finding pleasure in the little luxuries of life. Here’s to slow and intentional living.

Star Ingredients

  • Calendula

Warm gold and peachy colored blossoms that have long been a signature remedy for skin ailments, from eczema and abscesses to acne and abrasions. The German health authority has approved calendula for treating wounds, based on research showing its anti-inflammatory effect and effectivness in helping wounds seal over with new tissue.

  • Chamomile

Chamomile has an apple-like fragrance, hence the name Manzanilla in spanish, and has been used for centuries for its gentle healing and therapeutic uses. Most commonly used for its anti-inflammatory properties as a digestive aid or topical treatment for diaper rash, skin irritations, and wounds.

  • Lavender

Lavender has a distinct floral aromatic scent that reminds us of summer. It is known to be antibacterial and aintiseptic to heal and soothe the skin from bug bites and wounds. It can enhance your mood and promote calmness as well as aid in digestion.

  • Rose

Rose has antioxidants that prevent cell damage and help in regenerating skin tissue. Apart from its romantic perfume scent, rose petals are known to as astringents in the herbalism world to keep in moisture as well as pucker/ tighten the skin in order to neutralize free-radicals, providing anti-aging benefits to the skin.

  • Pine Resin

Pine resin may have the ability to fight off infection by sealing off superficial wounds and preventing insects from entering and creating more damage to the tree internally. Much like for the trees, the ancient people discovered that the uses of Pine resin could work the same on our own bodies.

  • Beeswax

Beeswax is multipurpose! It has been around for centuries providing a multitude of uses for skin care, candle light, time-keeping, lubricant, polish, and more. We make all of our balms and salves with added beeswax to thicken our herb infused oil blends while adding crucial skin loving benefits.

  • Jojoba Seed Oil

Similar consistancy to our own skin’s natural sebum, Jojoba Oil is #2 on the comedogenic list (least likely to clog pores) and has hydrating, antioxidant, and antibacterial properties that help regulate oil production. Sounds counterintuitive to add oil to oily skin? Think again… by drying out and stripping away excess sebum production, our skin creates more oil in order to compensate for the lack of oil. By using Jojoba Oil, it tells our skin to slow down and neutralize oil production.

  • Sunflower Seed Oil

High in vitamin E which repairs and protects skin and is absorbed into the skin with ease. Helps improve barrier function of the skin which helps skin to retain moisture, fight off infection, and reduce inflammation thanks to its omega-6 linolei acid.
